About
A small studio, since 2014.
Story
How the studio began.
Hana opened in 2014 in three small rooms above a tea shop in Yoyogi. There were six students at the first class and a borrowed sound system. The first class began, as every class since, with three minutes of seated breath.
The studio has grown — slowly — into a community of around two hundred regular students. The classes have stayed small (six to twelve people), the philosophy has stayed simple, and the door at the back still leads to the same tea shop.
We teach classical Hatha — pranayama, asana, savasana. We work in Japanese and English, all of the time. We close the door at the start of class. We are not in a hurry.
